By the next tyear, she was School Board chair In 1983 the Social Credit Party asked her to run for the B.C provincial legislature. Although she was defeated, Campbell became a policy advisor to the Premier She ran unsuccessfully for the Party leadership in 1986, and in the same year was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly.
